Wisdom of Dis-ease 9: Message of Diarrhoea 疾病的智慧：系列 9 – 腹泻的启示

4 to 5 years ago, I developed very severe diarrhoea one week after coming back from Kolkata, India. Never in my life did I have such severe diarrhoea. The stool spurted out like a hose, beyond my control. It became more severe when only water was passed out. I was wondering whether I contacted cholera. It made me very tired, listless and I was wondering what to do.

Initially, I thought it would go away with time. However, it never seemed to improve after I waited long enough. In desperation, I decided to prescribe for myself and found Phosphorus suitable for my symptoms. Upon taking the first dose, there was immediate feeling of comfort and of course diarrhoea stopped as well.

Upon reflection, many people develop diarrhoea while in India or soon after coming back from India. However, my diarrhoea started one week after returning from there. Hence, chances of getting infection from there is very low.

Then I realized that the remedy Phosphorus has symptom of being sympathetic as though he is the one suffering. While I was in Kolkata, I witnessed many homeless on the streets, without much clothing, sleeping by the road side. I said to myself, “How are these people going to survive during winter?”

Well, I count myself lucky for being able to find the remedy for myself. Otherwise, I might land up in hospital with pricks and drips!

This personal experience further confirmed and convinced that mental/emotional disturbance could lead to illness.

4-5 年前，我从印度的加尔各答回来一星期后，得了非常严重的腹泻。这是我一生中最严重的腹泻，如水喉般的喷出来，而排出来的只是水，让我担心是否中了霍乱症。全身疲累，无力感及不知所措。

起初，我以为会自愈。但情况并没有好转。在次之际，我不能不为自己开药。最后，我找到了一个适合我的顺势医疗法的药物，那就是 Phosphorus. 一吃下这药，身体马上感觉舒服，腹泻也停止了。

反思之下，如果是食物中毒而腹泻，我应该在印度就中了，或回来的一两天就出状况，为什么我的腹泻发生在回马一星期后？因此，要被感染的可能性不高。

经过深思，Phosphorus的其中一个特征是具有同情心，好像自己也同时受苦。在哪里，我目睹好多无家可归的街头人，身披稀薄衣裳，睡在路旁。我自言自语，“这些人如何度过寒冷的冬天呢？”

我自认好运，能够为自己开了方而痊愈。不然，就要进院吊点滴了！

我这的经验，让我亲身体验心理因素造成疾病，是多么的确实！
