At the moment of our birth at a particular location, if we draw a line from us towards the eastern horizon, this line shall meet a particular zodiac sign in the outer space. This is the Ascendant sign of our natal chart. Hence, time of birth is very important in determining this rising sign.

Thus, the rising sign describes the circumstances at the moment of birth. It determines how we were born. As an example, an hour before my second grandson was born, my son messaged me. At that moment, there was a heavy thunderstorm. In my mind, his rising is likely to be Pisces as Pisces is related to water and wetness. True enough, his rising sign is Pisces!

This rising sign determines our persona. It is the attitude or first impression towards the world and how the world sees us a person. I often use the analogy of how we feel or see when we open the door to a room. It is also the attitude whenever we wish to start something eg. a project. We are how we think and how we feel. Our physical appearance is often portrayed by this Ascendant sign.

Take a look at the chart where the Ascendant sign is Virgo which is an earth sign. Virgo is portrayed as somebody who looks small and simple. Her dressing is also simple and you may spot ribbons on her dressing. Attitude-wise, she is careful, analytical, diligent, good planner, very detailed and meticulous and may even be perfectionist in terms of performance. When things are not in proper order, she may feel nervous. She often behaves like a servant and is very willing to serve as she is very dutiful and responsible. However, if she over-works herself, she may drain herself and end up in sickness.

看看这星盘，上升点是土象的处女。通常这种人的体型较小和简朴，衣着简单，可能还会带上一些ribbon。心态方面，她是谨慎、勤劳、善于规划、仔细、细腻和工作上完美主义者。如果事情没做好，可能会紧张。她有下属心态，富有责任心，会很愿意付出。但是往往过度操劳，把自己累坏了，可能会生起病来。
